Leading researchers of permafrost in Yamal will receive grants of five million
The winners of the competition for the Okrug Governor’s grants for the study of permafrost have been determined in Yamal.
The problem of melting permafrost soils in the Arctic and especially in Yamal is currently very acute. The temperature is rapidly rising, which leads to active melting of permafrost, threatening buildings, roads, and infrastructure facilities.
The problem requires the attention of scientists, for whose research grants have been allocated.
Four research teams from leading universities in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, and the Academic Institute of Permafrost in Yakutsk received funds (up to five million rubles).
